FISH-ID
Determination of origin of fish and shrimps by isotope analysis
The project aims to determine the geographical origin and other quality-related characteristics of fish (selected species) and shrimp. The technical difficulty is the measurement from a complex animal matrix and the creation of a model for a clear assignment of the parameters. This should be made possible by the use of state-of-the-art isotope analysis.
This project was co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.

Identification of natural vs. synthetic additives by isotope analysis
The project aims the unique opportunity to test additives on there manufacturing process and origin. The technical difficulty is here the clear differentiation of natural, synthetic or biotechnologically produced raw materials. This differentiation should be made possible by the application of highly modern isotope analytics.
This project was co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.

Application of isotope analytics in forensic science by the example of GHB/GBL (knockout drugs) and textile fibres
The aim of the project was to show, using two model systems (GHB / GBL and textile fibers), that the analysis of stable isotopes (IRMS technology) in criminalistics is well-suited for investigating criminal offenses, thus enabling more offenses to be clarified to increase the safety of the Austrian population.

Development of a test kit for the determination of the energy consumption and the body fat content
The aim of the project was the development of a performance test kit (LTK) based on the DLW method to determine the total energy expenditure (TEE) of a human body. The difficulty was to achieve great precision in determining the energy consumption and body fat percentage in combination with an easy handling of the LTK and the analysis method, at low costs.
This project was co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.

Foodprint Analytics I.
The aim of the project was generating databases for plant-based foods and agricultural products, which can be used to determine the origin of these products with an assignment probability of ≥95%. -
Foodprint Analytics II.
Continuation of the project, main objective continues to be verification the origin, identity and authenticity of organic products by means of the analysis of the isotope ratios of the bioelements (H, C, N, O and S) from different foods and agricultural products. -
